SKY SHUTTLE HELICOPTER HANGAR
This is Sky Shuttle Helicopters Limited's new helicopter maintenance base with facilities of maintenance hangar, annex/auxillary operation area, helipad and stand. The new maintenance base will replace the exiting maintenance base at Seac Pai Van of Coloane Macau.
The site, located at E2 LT17 site, has a gross site area of approximately 9212 square meters. The proposed new Helicopter Maintenance Hangar bay will have a gross floor area of approximately 2262.45 square meters. Height of the hangar will be 13.2 meters to allow for basic maintenance. The hangar is able to accommodate a total of 6 AugustaWestland AW139 twin engine helicopters.
The hangar bay is surround by an L-shape annex consisted of a basement and three above ground levels. The basement will house fire pumps and other fire protection equipment. Ground floor will accommodate entrances, workshops, maintenance control center and storage rooms. First Floor will provide spaces for office rooms and conference rooms. Second floor of the annex block, alongside the space frame, consists of mechanical rooms and shelled spaces reserved for future office uses.
At the heliport outside the building, there is a helipad for AW139 helicopter to operate landing and taking off at daytime and nighttime, a helicopter stand for parking of a AW139, and taxiways for AW139 to operate ground movement;
The roof superstructure of the hangar will utilize open span space frame design, supported by and cantilevered from the structural columns at Annex. This will enable the hangar bay to be a columnless space. A 10-ton rated gantry crane will be provided and will be able to transfer heavy goods along the hangar space.
Aluminum panels of three metallic colors are used to claded the façade of the facility, the random running pattern create bold outlook of the building. The metallic coating, on the other hand, reinstate the image of the building as a industrial facility.
The design of the heliport complies with 2009 edition ICAO, International Standards and Recommended Practices, Annex 14, Volume II, Heliports & its referenced standards, as well as other heliport design guidelines including 2012, FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION, ADVISORY CIRCULAR 150/5390-2C HELIPORT DESIGN;
